So for anyone interested in saying hello…I’m doing these events at Worldcon Dublin 2019.
Friday 16th August: Kaffeeklatsch 11:00 AM - 11:50 AM | CCD , Level 3 Foyer
This, I believe, is you coming along to say hello and chat informally with me. Although why you’d want to do that when Joe Abercrombie and Jon Courtenay Grimwood are also appearing in the same room, I’m not sure. But I will probably have cake. And we can make faces at them.
Friday 16th August: Pitch perfect 2:00 PM - 2:50 PM | CCD , Wicklow Room-3
So for those who can’t get in to watch the George R R Martin interview OR the Joe Abercrombie reading then you might want to come along and see us discuss what makes the perfect pitch. What really makes us want to continue reading a submission and how to avoid some of the, seemingly obvious, pitfalls when submitting.
Moderator Anne Perry (Simon & Schuster UK) | Julie Crisp (Julie Crisp Literary Agency) | Bella Pagan (Tor UK, Pan Macmillan) | Navah Wolfe (Saga Press) | Neil Clarke (Clarkesworld Magazine)
Saturday 17th August: Contracts and talking terms 12:00 PM - 12:50 PM | CCD , Wicklow Room-4
Moderator Julie Crisp (Julie Crisp Literary Agency) | Liz Gorinsky (Erewhon Books LLC) | Joshua Bilmes (JABberwocky Literary Agency) | Ms Catherine Cho (Curtis Brown) | Meg Davis (Ki Agency Ltd)
Which, I’m the Moderator for? Errmmm did I know that? Checks email. Oh, yes, I apparently did, bugger… starts preparing lots of questions in a hurry. Ahem. It will be a HUGELY knowledgeable panel (thankfully down to the others appearing on it) about contracts, negotiating techniques, things to watch out for and how to avoid signing your soul and first child away in any publishing deal.
Apart from that I’ll no doubt be hanging around at the bar with Sam Hawke, Devin Madson and Den Patrick so do come and say hello. Although, maybe don’t ask me if I’ve read your submission yet. The odds are probably against it at this moment in time!!
